Birthday Reminder can notify you on the day, a week before, a month before, or all of them. Here is how to set it up and what the free plan includes.

THE SHORT ANSWER
One birthday, as many reminders as you need
Birthday Reminder schedules a notification for each timing you choose, so you can get a heads-up a week ahead and another on the day.
On the free plan you get one reminder on the day at 9:00 AM. Premium lets you choose the timings and the time of day.

How to set up birthday notifications

Allow notifications
Say yes when the app asks during setup. If you declined, turn them on for Birthday Reminder in your phone’s settings.

Open Settings
In the app’s Settings, find the Reminders card.

Choose your reminder timings
Pick one or more: at the time, 12 hours, 1 day, 3 days, 1 week, 2 weeks or 1 month before.

Set the reminder time
Choose the time of day the notification arrives. The default is 9:00 AM.

Check each birthday
Reminders are scheduled from each saved birthday, so make sure the date is right.

How the timing works
Each reminder is the birthday at your chosen time, minus the timing you picked. With a reminder time of 9:00 AM, “1 day before” arrives at 9:00 AM the day before, and “12 hours before” arrives at 9:00 PM the evening before.

Free plan and Premium
Changing the notification switch, the reminder time and the reminder timings is part of Premium; the app marks custom reminders as Premium.
- Free: one reminder on the day, at 9:00 AM.
- Premium: several timings for each birthday, a reminder time you choose, and control over the notification switch.

If reminders do not arrive
Work through these checks before contacting support.
- Notifications are allowed for Birthday Reminder in your phone’s settings. If you denied them, the app asks you to enable them in system settings.
- The birthday is saved with the right date.
- The notification switch in the app’s Settings is on.
- Your phone’s Focus or Do Not Disturb mode is not hiding notifications.

Birthday notifications: questions
Can I get more than one reminder per birthday?
Yes. Choose several timings in Settings, for example 1 week before and at the time of the birthday. Choosing timings is part of Premium.
Can I change the time of day?
Premium lets you choose it. The free plan uses 9:00 AM.
Do I need to allow notifications?
Yes, to get reminders on your phone. You can still see countdowns and the calendar inside the app without them.
Are reminders free?
One reminder on the day is included in the free plan. Everything beyond that is Premium.
